Applies until 31 December 2019

Due to the current fire situation, all Queensland’s national parks and forests now have fire restrictions in place until conditions ease.

This means no open fires in any park, anywhere in the state, regardless of the local fire danger.

The following cooking and heating appliances must not be used:

  • wood fires, including open campfires and fires in braziers, drums, other open containers,
  • supplied fire-rings and barbeques, and
  • ash producing fuels, heat beads, Oz-pigs and similar appliances.

Gas barbecues with a hooded lid can be used if done so safely, in an appropriate area away from vegetation and only for the purposes of cooking.

The restriction is in place to ease pressures on the state’s firefighting resources, which are stretched to capacity including in response to the worsening situation in New South Wales.
